background

Since its creation in the early 1990s, the banquete_ project has explored the relations among biological, social, technological and cultural systems. During that time, the project has put into practice a series of actions and events including exhibits, festivals, workshops, debates, symposia and publications, and provided an environment serving as a catalyst for research and production projects.

This process has included the following: Agua, the monograph published by Atlántica, the International Art Journal, as part of Expo’98 in Lisbon; Cibervisión (www.cibervision.org), the International Festival of Art, Science and Technology, held in 1999 at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Móstoles and in 2002 at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque in Madrid, in collaboration with the Science and Technology Series of the Fundación General de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid; the banquete_03 exhibit: metabolism and communication, co-produced in 2003 by the Palau de la Virreina of the Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe/Germany, and the Centro Cultural Conde Duque/MediaLabMadrid (MLM) of the Ayuntamiento de Madrid; the banquete_05 exhibit: evolving communication held in 2005 at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque/MLM and the Gran Canaria Espacio Digital in Las Palmas; and the ACTS_evolving communication symposium carried out in Madrid within the framework of that exhibit.
